The separation of crude particles from high-concentration fermentation and maturation in beer is done by centrifugation. The residual fine particulates are removed by cross-flow membrane filtering, which gives the beer a great sheen and taste stability. By combining the two technologies, the solids content on the membrane step is reduced, and the fouling layer on the membrane is reduced as well. The removal of retentate tanks, less cleaning, lower cross-flow velocity to regulate the fouling layer, reduced energy consumption, longer processing time, and more stable operation are all benefits of less membrane fouling.
