Alfa Chemistry provides customers with a wide range of analytical testing, product support, and application development services. Our laboratory can perform pollutant analysis, perform filter performance studies, and assist in the process and filtration optimization. Our services include filter compatibility, filterability , chemical analysis, particle retention efficiency, as well as extractable and leachable testing and analysis.
Other instrumental analyses performed in our laboratory include atomic absorption, GC-MS, ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry, laser particle counting, FTIR spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and optical microscopy. Please continue to learn about Alfa Chemistry's filter performance and analysis services.
Compatibility Screening
Alfa Chemistry performs a critical analysis of the interaction between the filter and the liquid under specified conditions to ensure the integrity of the filter and the integrity of the final product. Comprehensive analysis is used to evaluate the compatibility of filters with specific liquids.
Filterability
Alfa Chemistry usually runs scale-up tests to determine which type of filtration system is best for our customers' processes. Our scientists use disc filters to test customers' products and then extrapolate the data to determine the size, type, and the number of filters required for the process. The filterability test also allows Alfa Chemistry staff to compare membranes side by side, allowing us to recommend the best filter available.
Qualitative and Quantitative Chemical Analysis
Alfa Chemistry can use atomic absorption spectroscopy (metal), ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (metal and organic), GC-MS (organic), and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy to identify and quantify various trace concentrations of chemical material. Other FTIR functions include surface, particle (small samples), and film analysis, as well as chemometric identification and feasible component quantification.
Laser Particle Counting
In the laser particle counting test (particle retention efficiency), the Alfa Chemistry staff challenged the filter with latex balls to check the particle removal efficiency of the filter. Record the upstream and downstream particle counts to determine the efficiency of filter passage. Alfa Chemistry can use this information to measure particle size distribution, determine filter efficiency, and select filters to directly replace or convert existing filtration processes.
Extractables Testing and Analysis
Testing extractable allows Alfa Chemistry to analyze the worst-case filtration performance of a particular product. In order to test extractable, Alfa Chemistry exposes the filter to the customer's product or model solvent based on the test parameters. IThe resulting extractables are identified and quantified.
