This product is often used for nucleic acid electrophoresis. It is effective under weakly alkaline conditions, keeping DNA deprotonated, water-soluble and preventing degradation. This concentrated solution can be easily diluted to 1 or 0.5 times before use.
This buffer has been used for pulsed field gel electrophoresis (PFGE).
